Website security readiness checklist
Review eight foundational controls for a website or small application. Your answers create a preliminary priority tier in your browser; this tool does not scan or test any system.
Controls included in the self-check
The questions cover common operational foundations: administrative MFA, patching, backups, least-privilege access, form and API protections, server-side secrets, logging, and security response planning.
- Mark “Not sure” when a control has not been verified
- Give each gap an owner and a review date
- Confirm backup restoration and incident contacts periodically
A self-check is not a security test
This checklist does not access a website or assess its code, configuration, or defenses. A security assessment requires the system owner’s written authorization, a defined scope, controlled testing, and appropriate handling of findings.
- Do not enter credentials, domains, or sensitive information
- Use written permission before any security testing
- Request remediation support only for systems you own or are authorized to assess
Common questions
- Does this tool perform a vulnerability scan?
- No. It only scores the answers you select in your browser and never connects to your website.
- Can a completed checklist prove a website is secure?
- No. It covers selected foundational practices and cannot prove that a system is secure or compliant.
